Happy New Year! Welcome to the Rotary Club of Harlingen’s website. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your President for new Rotary Year of 2010/2011; the theme for this year is ‘Building Communities/ Bridging Continents”.

The vision of the Rotary Club of Harlingen is to be an action-oriented club whose contributions improve the lives of others in communities we live-in or support. The Rotary Club of Harlingen’s core values represent the guiding principles of the club’s culture, including what guides members’ priorities and actions within the organization.

The 2010/2011 Board of the Rotary Club of Harlingen has endorsed these five core values:

SERVICE
FELLOWSHIP
DIVERSITY
INTEGRITY
LEADERSHIP

In support of Rotary International, the Rotary Club of Harlingen has established goals in each of the four areas of service that our Board of Directors will be working on during the 2010-2011 year.

The member expectations for this year are:

Pay Dues by end of July
Attend 4 meetings a month by:
Attending regular Friday meetings
Making-up at another club or on-line
Attending a committee meeting
Participating in a fellowship or fundraising event
Attending a Board meeting (2nd Tuesday)
Participate in one club fundraising event
Participate in Shrimpfest
Participate in one program or event that supports Rotary International
Join a Rotary Wheel
Donate to Polio Plus
Host a GSE team member or exchange student
Participate in a club sponsored community service event
Adoption Awareness
Spelling Bee
Attend a local charity dinner or recognition event
Help locate other potential “Rotarians”

Not everyone can be a Rotarian. The standards are high. Rotarians are business and professional men and women who are committed to using their vocation in Service Above Self. Rotarians seek to make the world a better place, by ending polio, by helping in their community, by helping one another to acheive their goals. Weekly attendance at our meetings is required. We seek to build strong bonds among the leaders of our community for the benefit of all.
